The Department of English was established in the year 1960. But it was in 1975 that the department obtained permission to teach English Literature as honours subject. The P.G. courses opened in the department in the academic session 2017-18. Since then, it has been catering to the needs of teaching English Language and Literature to B.A, B.Com &B.Sc. students and promoting interest and creativity in acquiring language and literary skills. The mission of the department is to enhance communicative skills of the students for global competency and strengthen their aesthetic sense through language and literature. The basic objective is to enlighten the young minds about the literary canon as well as to enhance their ability to analyse the literary texts
